I’m part of Dev/Mission’s Spring 2021 Preapprenticeship cohort. I’m a first-generation college student based in San Francisco, CA and I’m attending UC Davis as a Cognitive Science major with minors in Psychology and Technology Management. I hope to pursue a career in the nonprofit or edtech space.
Expected graduation: Spring 2021
• Dedicated 14 hours per week to a developmental program for careers in tech, learning foundational skills in IT, IoT, and programming, and anticipate to complete the program with 160 hours
• Developing a website using HTML/CSS to showcase personal portfolio and apply various skills learned throughout the program
• Provided computer consulting on Mac and PC platforms at the IET Media Lab which is the central access to media production software on-campus that averages around 300+ daily users
• Performed intermediate to advanced troubleshooting of hardware to ensure functional equipment, and software-related issues with image editing/video editing/3D modeling/CAD software
• Facilitated hands-on workshops that emphasized design thinking for cohorts of students (beginners and intermediate leveled students) utilizing a variety of power tools
•Encourage students to have a positive sense of their potential, an awareness of their talents, and the self-confidence to pursue STEM learning by developing communication skills, creative thinking skills, wood craftsmanship, and both traditional and digital technology skills
